Foundation Board of Directors

Nate Root, President

Nate has worked in the timber industry for over 20 years spending time in California, Oregon, and Washington. His forestry career brought him and his wife to Grays Harbor County in 2005. He currently works as the Log Procurement Manager at Murphy Company in Elma. Nate has a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington Tacoma and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry from Northern Arizona University. Nate is also a Registered Professional Forester in the State of California, RPF #2758.

While working for Murphy Company, Nate has enjoyed getting involved with the community through support to the local 4H, FFA, and Summit Pacific Medical Foundation. In his free time, Nate enjoys all activities with his family including mountain biking, golf, and any sport his two kids are playing.

David Burnett, Vice President

David has lived in Elma for 30 years and has raised his family here. He is currently employed by the Squaxin Island Tribe as the CEO of their enterprise division. He graduated from Central Washington University with a degree in accounting and spent several years working in public accounting before serving in a series of executive administration roles in tribal governments.

David has been married to his wife for nearly 40 years, and they spend much of their free time engaged as enthusiastic supporters for all the activities of their grandchildren. In addition, he enjoys golf, hunting, and woodworking. He also serves as a member of the Chehalis Tribe.

David observed the development of Summit Pacific Medical Center with interest since he had the opportunity to participate with a group of community members in a stream clean-up prior to the beginning of construction. He has also been a patient since the earliest days, and is now looking to support the continued growth and expansion through participation on the foundation board.

Patti Ambrose, Secretary

My Family has used Summit Pacific, formerly Mark Reed Hospital, for many years. I am proud and excited to be a part of the Foundation Team. I am a Leadership Grays Harbor graduate, a Rotary board member and a member of the Elma Chamber of Commerce. I love spending time with my family. Some of my hobbies include hiking, camping, hunting and boating.

Katie Collette, Director

Katie is proud to be born and raised in Grays Harbor! Her family has been an active part of the Elma community for many generations. Katie and her husband, Josh, continue to serve their community with their two young daughters in many ways. 

Katie volunteers with the Elma Elementary PTA board, children’s ministry at Abundant Life Church, Grays Harbor 4-H camp, and various youth activities.

Her connection to SPMC dates back nearly 75 years as both her grandmother and mother worked as registered nurses for many years at the small hospital in McCleary. She was actually born at Mark Reed and has many fond childhood memories of the staff and patients. Today, Katie and her family are patients of SPMC and utilize the Wellness Center for many services. 

Katie is a graduate of Elma High School, Grays Harbor Beauty College, and Central Washington University. The combination of her cosmetology education and her Bachelor’s degree in Business and Marketing, has provided her with a vast and fulfilling career in the professional beauty industry for 25 years! When she’s not in the salon, she travels as a National Educator for L’oreal Professional teaching, facilitating, and presenting at salon, schools, industry events.

She and her family love to spend time together exploring new places and making memories!

Anthony Enzler, Director

Born and raised in Brinnon, WA, Anthony (Tony) Enzler graduated from Chimacum High School in 1993 before attending Washington State University as a student-athlete on the Washington State Men’s Crew Team. In 1997, Tony took a break from his studies to travel, working as a deckhand on a private yacht in the Caribbean and San Blas Islands outside of the Panama Canal. He returned to WSU to complete his degree in 2000 and soon after began his career in banking with Frontier Bank in Bellingham, WA. As he progressed in the financial sector, Tony earned an MBA in Financial Accounting from Marylhurst University through an employee tuition program while working at Sterling Savings Bank. His career led him to Bank of the Pacific in Aberdeen, WA, before transitioning into his current role as Chief Operating Officer for Quinault Nation Enterprises in 2021.

Beyond his professional achievements, Tony met his wife, Elichia, while attending WSU, and they have been happily married for 20 years. Together, they have three children—Dryden, Elisabeth, and Winston, who keep them very busy and bring joy to their lives. In both his career and personal life, Tony values hard work, his community involvement, being in the outdoors, and the opportunities that come with new experiences.

Brian Smith, Director

Brian was born and raised in Grays Harbor. He has worked in the financial industry for over 20 years, spending time with two local community banks. For the last 12 years he’s been employed with Timberland Bank serving as a Senior Vice President for Commercial Lending.

Brian enjoys volunteering in the community through the Aberdeen Girls Softball Association, Greater Grays Harbor as an Ambassador, Aberdeen High School and Summit Pacific Medical Foundation. In his free time, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, you’ll usually find them together enjoying boating; fastpitch or just hanging out at the lake house.

Garrett Stoney, Director

Garrett grew up in East Grays Harbor and currently resides in Montesano. He attended Saint Martins University and received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He has worked at Easter & Stoney, P.S. in Elma since 2015 where he is now a Partner and enjoys working with small businesses in the community.

Garrett is looking forward to serving on the Foundation Board and is passionate about making Grays Harbor a healthier community. In his free time, Garrett enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling with his wife, Erika, and two young boys.

Kristi Templeton, Director

Kristi was born and raised in East Grays Harbor. After graduating from Montesano High School, she attended Grays Harbor College. Kristi moved back to Elma where she has been employed with Our Community Credit Union for over 17 years and is currently the Regional Branch Manager, overseeing the operations for the Montesano, Elma, and McCleary branches.

Kristi is an avid member of the East Grays Harbor Rotary Club and is also active in the Elma Chamber. In her spare time, Kristi enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family and two dogs: Hops and Bolt.

Amy Thomason, Director

Amy was born and raised in the East Grays Harbor area and is a 1983 graduate of Elma High School. She went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree in Business Management from Grays Harbor College in 1985. After graduating from International Air Academy, she worked for Alaska Airlines in Seattle until moving home to Elma in 1990. Amy has owned and operated Foothill Massage Therapy since 1994.

Amy believes that Grays Harbor County Public Hospital District #1 is a very valuable part of our small community and that its new Wellness Center is a vital part of building a healthier community for the future.

Josh Martin, CEO, Ex Officio Member

Josh joined Summit Pacific Medical Center in 2016 with more than two decades of healthcare experience in both large health systems and rural community hospitals. Josh has a master’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Healthcare and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, both from Northwest Nazarene University in Idaho.

He has certifications in Lean Process Improvement from Washington State University and Social Marketing from Boise State University. Josh currently serves on the Washington State Hospital Association’s Board of Directors and Public Policy Committee as well as the Rural Health Committee. Additionally, he is an active Board member of the Washington Rural Health Collaborative, Greater Grays Harbor Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Chair for CHOICE Regional Health Network.

Josh understands the healthcare delivery system and enjoys the challenge of rural hospitals. He strives to create an organizational culture that embodies excellence, compassion, and quality while advocating at a State and National level to transform our healthcare delivery system. In his free time, Josh enjoys mountain biking, playing soccer, volunteering in the community, and spending time with his wife and 3 young children.

Brad Thomas, Executive Director

Brad was born and raised in Olympia, mostly on Black Lake. He is the youngest in a combined family with eight children. He has worked in the nonprofit industry for over 30 years with 17 years in healthcare philanthropy. This has included leadership positions with American Cancer Society, City of Hope National Medical Center, Columbia Memorial Hospital (Astoria, Oregon), Medical Teams International and Virginia Mason Medical Center.

Brad has owned his own nonprofit consulting company, Empower Leadership, and was the Executive Director for Edmonds College Foundation. He enjoys volunteering for the Identity Project and has served on the board of directors for Edmonds Daybreakers Rotary Club, West Seattle and Sammamish YMCA’s, the Oregon Road Runners Association, Giving Globally, United Way and the Washington Advancement Foundation Leaders.

In his free time, Brad enjoys spending time with his wife Janell, their four adult children and their four grandchildren. Brad also enjoys swimming, running, hiking, camping and bicycling.
